Home Is Where the Heart is, in Livermore Valley!

There’s an expression that says, “Home is where the heart is”, and it’s very true when you live in Livermore Valley. Having a home in Livermore Valley allows you to enjoy the best of our local lifestyle, with everything from dining, golf, wineries and the arts, to shopping, hiking, and more.  It’s easy to fall in love with Livermore Valley!

Many of the home buyers I work with are familiar with the advantages of Livermore Valley.  For them, the decision to move here has already been made! It’s simply a matter of finding the right home at the right price. Ultimately, though, their choice is not made on pragmatics alone.

Home buying is an emotional decision.  Buyers are looking for a house that feels right.  I know there’s going to be an offer to purchase when a buyer looks around and exclaims, “I love it!”

Think about that reaction for a moment.  “I love it.”  Does it matter, then, if the home doesn’t have a double sink in the master bath? Or what brand of appliances there are in the kitchen? Nope.

Buyers know their price ranges, and while bargain hunters are out there, most buyers have reasonable expectations.  They are willing to negotiate and compromise on certain things if a home appeals to them emotionally.

In my prior blog, I gave a few suggestions for Livermore Valley home sellers.  I’m going to expand on those by adding this simple idea:  A well-loved home is easy to fall in love with.

How do you make your home look loved?  Start by making sure you’re up to date with maintenance and common caretaking.  A neat and tidy home speaks volumes!  Here’s a few areas to keep in mind:

  • Exterior:  Gutters, siding, and windows should be clean and in good repair.
  • Landscaping: Trees and shrubs should be trimmed and orderly. Fencing should be in good shape and free of weeds. Consider solar lighting and a few plantings for curb appeal.
  • Interior: Appliances should be clean and in good working order. Carpeting and window treatments should be clean and free of excessive wear.  Bathrooms should be free of water stains and freshly scrubbed.  New paint and tasteful decorating should be applied to rooms that have strong emotional value, such as the kitchen, family room and bedrooms.
