Fun at the Fair in Livermore Valley!

Get ready for fun at the Alameda County Fair! This year’s fair runs from June 22 through July 10. The fair brings together the best in family entertainment, exhibits, education and excitement!

The Alameda County Fair also holds some impressive bragging rights. It’s rated as one of the top 50 fairs in North America, and has been recognized for numerous achievements by the Western Fair Association.  In fact, our fair has won more  industry awards than any other fair in the U.S. and Canada.  We truly have a blue-ribbon fair!

The fair also boosts the local economy, attracting visitors from around the region. The 2010 fair had  418,499 visitors during the season. The domino effect of spending activity amounts to millions of dollars. Not bad for an event running 17 days!

Speaking of running, horse racing is a featured event at the fair! Action-packed, edge-of-your-saddle racing excitement is included with general admission. Daily post times are 1:15 p.m. Note, the fair is closed Tuesdays, and there is no racing on Wednesdays, so plan ahead!

If you prefer racing pigs, we have those too! Watch these competitive pigs squeal around the turns!

If you prefer a slower pace concerning animals, you can enjoy the barnyard petting zoo and livestock exhibits. There’s also the award-winning Puppy Party Palooza, a hands-on, interactive demonstration of all things canine! See thrilling frisbee and agility shows performed by four-legged athletes!

The largest classroom in the county is also at the fair, with hundreds of educational activities. Immerse the family in robotics or get green with natural resources, or choose from a score of other subjects.  Allow plenty of time for your kids to explore this dynamic learning experience.

If you’re ready to rock, take note of the concert lineup this year: Foghat, Survivor, Blue Oyster Cult, and Evolution. There’s also great R&B with The Whispers and ConFunkShun. Or, go country with The Charlie Daniels Band and Tracy Lawrence.

Celebrate diversity at the fair’s Festival Square. Each weekend highlights a different culture with food, music, and live performances.  Local cuisine and artists are also showcased here.

Visit the Alameda County Fair website for discounted admission dates, ride specials, and concert information. Plan your day, pack the car, and enjoy great summer fun in Livermore Valley!
