Things to Do Around Livermore Valley This Month!

As your Livermore Valley real estate agent, I’ve done some research and collected information on a few upcoming events in the Livermore Valley area. No matter what time of year it is, there is never a dull moment here in Dublin, Livermore and Pleasanton, CA! It’s one of the many qualities that make this area an excellent place to call home.

Read up on these upcoming events and mark them in your calendar if they sound appealing:

  • Saturday, join Livermore Ballet School for A Night of Dancing! This is a fundraiser in honor of Delaney Newton, a two-year-old battling her way through brain cancer. The $50 tickets will include hors’ d’eourves, dinner, non-alcoholic refreshments, dancing, a DJ and so much more. A cash bar will be available. The silent auction and raffles have some great giveaways!
  • Do you have off work for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day? Celebrate your three-day weekend at one of Livermore Valley’s finest wineries! McGrail Vineyards and Winery in Livermore will be open from noon to 4:30 p.m. Stop by and taste a lineup of five wines for $10. Or, stop by Garre’s Vineyard & Winery in Livermore between 11:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. They’ll have wine tasting for $5!
  • International Guitar Night takes place at the Livermore Valley Performing Arts Center on Wednesday, Jan. 22 at 7:30 p.m. This concert will feature Brian Gore, who for nearly two decades has been uniting some of the world’s best acoustic guitarist in one collaborative event. This year, Gore is collaborating with guitarists from Italy, England and Argentina, bringing sounds from all over the world together on one stage! Purchase your tickets so you don’t miss out.
  • Beginning this Wednesday, Jan. 22, and running through Feb. 22, stop by the Firehouse Arts Museum in Pleasanton, CA for Just Add Water & Black on White. This features two separate art exhibits. One contains a colorful display of watercolor works from Bay Area painters. The other contains works in black and white, so the collections are as different as night and day! An opening reception will take place Jan. 22 from 7 to 9 p.m.

5 New Year’s Eve Events in Livermore Valley!

NYEAs your Livermore Valley real estate agent, I hope you had a fabulous time celebrating whichever holiday you celebrate. Now, it’s time to bid farewell to 2013 and celebrate the beginning of 2014!

Will you be home watching the ball drop, gathered with friends, or out at a local venue? If you’d prefer to be out and about for the New Year, there are plenty of events and activities going on around Livermore Valley. Here’s a collection of events you can attend!

1.  Every year, the Livermore Valley Performing Arts Center hosts a New Year’s Eve Celebration at the Bankhead Theater on Dec. 31. This year, the celebration will feature modern master of the slide guitar Roy Rogers, along with his band The Delta Rhythm Kings! The event will begin at 8 p.m. and will include a complimentary champagne and dessert reception after the performance. Tickets cost $60. Or, you could purchase the “Sparkling New Year’s Eve Package” for two, which includes performance tickets, a four-course dinner at Sanctuary Ultra Lounge, cocktails, an overnight stay and more.

2.  Enjoy slices of organic pizza for $1 per slice at New Leaf Deli in Pleasanton! Their made-from-scratch cheese pizza features organic ingredients, including original marinara sauce and dough made fresh in the deli. They have been offering $1 slices each Tuesday night in December, and New Year’s Eve is the last Tuesday evening to take advantage! This deal runs from 3 to 7 p.m., limit two slices per person.

3.  Handles Gastropub in Pleasanton is hosting a New Year’s Eve Party, beginning at 6 p.m. It includes a prix fixe menu, music in the public house with DJ Scott LaRock until 1 a.m., and a champagne toast at midnight. Admission costs $10, or it’s free if you join them for the prix fixe menu.

4.  First Presbyterian Church in Livermore hosts an annual New Year’s Eve Labyrinth Walk on Dec. 31. Between 8 p.m. and midnight, you can stop by to walk the courtyard labyrinth by the light of the Christmas Eve luminaries. There will also be a labyrinth inside, lit up by candles and surrounded by music. This is a great way to say goodbye to the old year and welcome in the new year!

5.  Bring in 2014 with lots of dancing at Temptation 2014: The Biggest Bollywood New Year’s Party in San Ramon! The celebration will take place at Canyon View from 8 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. It includes stand-up comedy, a comedy skit with dance performances, a DJ, a dinner buffet, kids’ entertainment, professional photographers,  a midnight ball drop and much more.

7 Holiday Events This Weekend in Livermore Valley!

What is your favorite Livermore Valley holiday event? As your Livermore Valley real estate agent, I like to know that Livermore Valley residents are enjoying all that our local towns have to offer this time of year! This weekend alone, there are tons of family-friendly events happening. I’ve put together a list here so all you have to do is jot down the ones that sound interesting and head out!

1.  Take a road trip to Mountain House for the 5th Annual Holiday Lights Contest! More than 50 Mountain House residents decorate their homes for the holidays and compete for the top prize. You can gather up the family and some hot chocolate and enjoy the sights! Then, vote for your favorite online between Dec. 13 and Dec. 20. One voter will win a gift card.

2.  Tonight, starting at 5:30 p.m., head to the Arroyo Seco Holiday Mini Mall for all of your holiday shopping! The school is decked out with local, original arts, crafts and gift ideas. From candles, purses, scarves and hair bows, to jewelry, sweets, memory books and clothing, you’re sure to find something for everyone on your list. There will also be a bake sale, coffee and raffles.

3.  Head to Danville, CA on Saturday for the 20th Annual Breakfast with Santa! From 8 a.m. to noon, enjoy pancakes or crepes, eggs, sausages and oranges. You’ll receive a complimentary photo with Santa, too! Also enjoy a bake sale, a craft boutique and children’s activities. Cost is $8 per person, ages three and under free.

4.  Beginning at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Valley Children’s Museum in Dublin, CA is hosting their December Second Saturday event! Bring the kids by for snowmen and snowflake crafts, hot chocolate and light refreshments. The museum will also be collecting canned, non-perishable food items.

5.  Saturday evening, enjoy watching the holiday classic, Elf, on a 40-foot screen! This screen will be set up at the Amador Valley High School football field. Doors open at 5 p.m., when you can enjoy visiting with Santa, listening to Christmas carols and eating snacks from the snack bar. The movie will begin at 7 p.m. Tickets cost $15 for adults, $10 for students and $5 for kids under age 10.

6.  Looking for some new holiday dishes to serve at your Christmas dinner this year? Head to Pans on Fire in Pleasanton, CA on Saturday at 5 p.m. for an English Yuletide Feast! You will learn how to roast a haunch of meat, make Yorkshire pudding, creamed horseradish sauce and a gingered pear tart with cider-bourbon sauce. Sunday, they have cookie baking and exchange. Call to register!

7.  A full-length production of the holiday classic, The Nutcracker, is coming to Bankhead Theater in Livermore, CA! Get your tickets now for performances on Dec. 14 and 15, and Dec. 21 and 22. School groups can get special tickets for Dec. 17. Support local dancers and get in the festive spirit while watching nutcrackers and sugar plum fairies.

Upcoming Events in Livermore Valley Wine Country!

winebottleWho said that the holiday season meant stress and chaos? Here in Livermore Valley, the holiday season also means plenty of events, activities and discount specials at our local vineyards and wineries. While you can fight the crowds at the grocery store this weekend and the department stores on Black Friday, as your Livermore Valley real estate agent, I suggest enjoying some wine instead.

Take a moment to savor the moment, support local business and socialize with Livermore Valley neighbors. Here are a few events to mark in your calendar in the next couple of weeks:

  • Do you know what types of wines should be served with Thanksgiving dinner? Visit the new tasting room at Cuda Ridge Wines this Saturday or Sunday, Nov. 23 or 24, for Salute to Harvest! You’ll get to pair wines with “Thanksgiving on a Crostini” by Smokey Jim. This will include turkey, stuffing and gravy with homemade cranberry sauce on the side. Wine tastings include merlot, cabernet franc, sab sauv, malbec or petit verdot. Enjoy live music while you sip and sample. Tasting flights cost $10.
  • If you don’t have time to cook Thanksgiving dinner, but would still like to enjoy it, order a take-home dinner from Wente Vineyards! There meal generously feeds six and features traditional holiday dishes with simple finishing instructions to follow at home. You can pick up at the Event Center at Wente Vineyard the day before Thanksgiving, but you must reserve ahead of time! The meal costs $249.
  • What better way to celebrate Black Friday than with wine? Steer clear of the stores and instead head to Murrieta’s Well in Livermore, CA! From 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Friday through Sunday, you can enjoy their special Holiday Preview Weekend. Purchase gift baskets and enjoy seasonal cheer while indulging in handcrafted blends.

There are also open houses and/or sales happening the day after Thanksgiving at Thomas Coyne Winery, McGrail Vineyards and Winery, and Las Positas Vineyards.

The next big Livermore Valley Wine Country event, which encompasses all participating wineries, is Holidays in the Vineyards Dec. 7 and 8. Mark your calendar for this wonderful event, which is right around the corner!

On these two days, you’re encouraged to bring unwrapped toys or monetary donations to your favorite winery. All donations will be given to the Pleasanton-Livermore Fire Association’s Toys for Tots program after the event. On these two days, you can enjoy arts and craft vendors, special wines, festive activities, Santa visits, carolers and so much more. Full details are available here.

Upcoming Livermore Valley Wine Country Events

WineOne of the great bonuses of living in Livermore Valley is all of the vineyards and wineries right in your backyard! If you’re interested in buying a Livermore Valley home, and you enjoy wine, you should get to know local wines from the area. Luckily, there are plenty of events and activities to make that happen. As your Livermore Valley real estate agent, I’d like to fill you in!

Get your calendar out and start marking dates for the upcoming November events happening around Livermore Valley Wine Country:

  • This weekend, Nov. 2 and 3, head to Page Mill Winery in Livermore, CA for a Sparkling Release party! You’ll get to try their award-winning 2008 Blanc de Blanc. This is only their third release of this sparkling wine, so tastes are limited. Don’t miss out! This event costs $5.
  • McGrail Vineyards and Winery in Livermore helps break up the work week with Wine Wednesdays! Nov. 6, stop by between 5 and 8 p.m. to try five different wines for $10. If you love one, you can purchase a bottle to bring home with you.
  • Thursday, Nov. 7, go all out at Wente Vineyards in Livermore at their Winemaker’s Dinner! This costs $109 and reservations are required. You get a four-course meal paired with red wines from both bottle and barrel, and dessert presented by a Ghirardelli chocolate professional!
  • Thursday, Nov. 14 is all about the ladies. Gather your friends and head to Page Mill Winery in Livermore, CA for Ladies’ Night Out! From 6 to 9 p.m., enjoy sipping wine and shopping among local vendors. It’s a great opportunity for some early holiday shopping!
  • Want a succulent Thanksgiving dinner without any of the hassle? Order yours form Wente Vineyards for $249. You’ll get a meal for four with all the traditional dishes with simple finishing instructions. You can pick it up onsite the day before Thanksgiving, Nov. 27.
  • Get away from hectic shopping the day after Thanksgiving at McGrail Vineyards! On Friday, Nov. 29, enjoy “Grab Bag” Black Friday specials at the winery, two tasting flights and live music, all for $10. You’ll be much more relaxed than your fellow shoppers.

If you don’t enjoy wine, don’t worry. You don’t have to be a wine enthusiast to live in Livermore Valley! There are plenty of local bars and pups, with craft beers and cocktails. 5 Fun, Festive Events in Livermore Valley!

hayrideFall is a fun, festive season to enjoy here in Livermore Valley, where the festivals and activities never end! As your Livermore Valley real estate agent, I suggest that you get out and enjoy every beautiful day that we have here in Livermore and Pleasanton, and that you get to know your neighbors and local residents while you do.

To help you plan, here are five events coming up this month:

1.  ArtWalk Livermore is scheduled for tomorrow, Oct. 12, in Downtown Livermore! From 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., you can walk around and view clustered art booths, along with art-destinations listed on a map, which are local businesses offering art crafts of exhibits. The Art Banners from September will also be displayed for up-close viewing. On the Plaza, enjoy an acoustic concert. Definitely a sight to see!

2.  Every weekend in October, the Alden Lane Nursery hosts a Fall Festival! Each Saturday and Sunday, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., starting this weekend, head to the nursery in Livermore for farm animals, apple fishing, fresh apples and apple tasting, an old-fashioned candy cart, pumpkins, a hay maze, pies, craft activities and more. It’s fun and delicious tastes for the whole family to enjoy!

3.  Get over to Livermore’s Summer Farmers Market before it finishes its season! This market runs on Thursdays at Carnegie Park from 4 to 8 p.m., but it only runs through Oct. 17. So next Thursday, get your fresh and seasonal fruits and vegetables while enjoying live music and family fun. But have no fear, Livermore still has its year-round farmers market on Sundays!

4.  Looking for some indoor, relaxing entertainment? The Livermore Valley Arts Center is the place to be! They’ve got lots of upcoming performances. The most notorious and ongoing show is Monty Python’s “Spamalot,” opening Oct. 19 and running through Nov. 3. Be sure to get your tickets! Many other one-night performers are coming too, so check out the calendar.

5.  Get excited for the 5th Annual Downtown Halloween Carnival on Oct. 26 from 1 to 5 p.m.! if you’ve got kids in fifth grade or younger, bring them by for the costume contest, carnival games, activities and some surprise entertainment! If you’d like to host an activity booth or an arts and crafts booth, the applications are available online.

Aside from these events, the G & M Farms Cornfield Maze and Pumpkin Patch in Livermore is open every day during the month of October, as is Joan’s Farm & Pumpkin Patch. You’ve got lots of options! Get out and enjoy!

5 Events Happening in Livermore Valley This Weekend!

cartwheelsAnother work week comes to a close as we say farewell to this year’s harvest full moon while enjoying new wines from our Livermore Valley wineries! Aside from wine, there is lots to look forward to this weekend in Livermore Valley, including craft fairs, moonlit strolls, cartwheels and more.

As your Livermore Valley real estate agent, I think it’s important to take a break from the hustle and bustle of our weekday routines and to let loose on the weekends. Check out this list of events happening this weekend and choose one to partake in!

1.  The Pleasanton Harvest Festival is happening all weekend, Sept. 20 through Sept. 22! This is one of the largest indoor arts and craft shows on the West Coast, so don’t miss it! There will be over 24,000 handmade items. While you shop and browse, there will also be live music and entertainment, a Kid Zone, food and prize drawings. It all takes place at the Alameda County Fairgrounds.

2.  Yesterday was the harvest full moon but it’ll still be shining bright this weekend! Join Livermore Park District for a Moonrise Hike, beginning at 7 p.m. on Saturday. A group will take off together from Sycamore Grove Park, Wetmore Road Entrance, and will hike onto the hills to gaze at the stars and to watch the sun go down and the moon go up. The walk is approximately 2.5 miles round-trip.

3.  Speaking of harvest, a couple of our local Livermore Valley wineries are celebrating harvest season with new wines and tastings this weekend! Head to Rodrigue Molyneaux in Livermore tomorrow for their 12th harvest celebration. You can enjoy sampling an array of sausage and mustard pairings, and you’ll get to try their very first Petit Verdot!

4.  Then head to Fenestra Winery Saturday or Sunday for their Harvest Wine Tasting. This is Fenestra’s 37th harvest! They’ll be celebrating with live music from Hit ‘N Run Band, local art and craft vendors, chocolates, food, and of course, wine. Tastings will include new releases, such as “Best of the Bay Red Wine” 2010 Graciano and more.

5.  Who ever said Sundays have to be lazy and boring? This Sunday, gather family and head to the West Coast Training Center’s Second Annual Cartwheels & Carnivals for a Cause! This will take place at 50 Wright Brothers Ave. in Livermore from noon to 3 p.m. and will include a cartwheel-a-thon, face painting, an acrobatics show, a live DJ and much more. All proceeds will benefit the Taylor Family Foundation.

Harvest Wine Celebration This Weekend in Livermore Valley!

winebottlesHere in Livermore Valley, there is never a shortage of wine events, festivities and celebrations at our area wineries. This Labor Day weekend is no exception! The 32nd Annual Harvest Wine Celebration takes place Sept. 1 and 2, Sunday and Monday.

As your Livermore real estate agent, I highly suggest that you check out this fantastic, yearly local event. For one, it’s a great way to relax, unwind and enjoy your long, holiday weekend and the unofficial end to summer. Two, it’s a great way to socialize with other local residents and meet new people, especially if you just moved to Livermore Valley! Finally, it’s the perfect way to sip and sample local wines.

The two-day festival runs from noon to 5 p.m. each day and showcases 40 wineries in Livermore Valley Wine Country! This is the peak of harvest season as well, so it’s the perfect time to celebrate. Tickets cost $55 in advance, $65 the day of, and $10 for a designated driver. These tickets are good for both days, so if you don’t get to all 40 wineries in one day, have no fear!

With a ticket, you get entry into the participating wineries, complimentary wine tasting at over 40 wineries, shuttle service between wineries on Sunday, special activities, discounts when purchasing wine, a Livermore Valley Wine Country glass and an event program.

Most of the wineries are pouring straight from their tasting rooms in Livermore, Pleasanton, Sunol, Castro Valley and Danville. A group of wineries will also be pouring from Concannon Vineyard and another group from Wente Estates Vineyard each day.

Food vendors will be present at a number of participating wineries, along with local artisans and festive music. On Sunday, you can take the free shuttle buses to and from the wineries. On Monday, the wineries are offering a more intimate experience, with special, unique experiences at each of their tasting rooms.

Livermore Valley hosts all sorts of winery events throughout the year, so if you’ve got other plans this weekend, stay tuned for future events! Aside from this, Livermore, Pleasanton, Dublin and other Tri-Valley towns have an assortment of events, festivals and activities to enjoy this weekend.

‘Sunset Sip and Shop’ in Livermore Valley, CA!

WineAre you new to the Livermore Valley area? Perhaps we just helped you buy a Livermore Valley home and you’re ready to meet some new neighbors. Or, perhaps you’ve lived here for quite a while or your whole life, but you’re ready to participate more in community events.

As your Livermore Valley real estate agent, I perhaps have a biased opinion, but I believe that Livermore Valley is a great place to meet people and make lifelong friends! As a resident of the area, that has been my personal experience.

Plus, with so many wineries nearby, you have no excuse! Sip some wine, become more social, and start introducing yourself. A couple weeks ago, I shared a blog post about upcoming events at each of the local wineries. But as a new Livermore Valley resident, how do you know which wines you’ll enjoy most?

Luckily, the wineries sometimes come together for a collective event. That’s what is happening on Friday, Aug. 16, so it’s your perfect opportunity to try the local wines, meet other residents and have a great time before summer ends.

Aug. 16 is Sunset Sip and Shop. This event takes place from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Livermore Premium Outlets. Tickets cost $16 and include 16 one-ounce tastes of local wine, a Livermore Valley Wine Country glass and an event program.

Ticket holders may also shop around the Livermore Premium Outlets, as many stores will offer special discounts! And, if you purchase your ticket now, you’ll receive $5 off your Harvest Wine Celebration ticket for Labor Day Weekend. (The code is included in your receipt.)

Year-round, these wineries put on events for Tri-Valley residents, whether it’s special wine tastings, live music, vendor shopping, yoga or many other activities. If you buy a Livermore Valley home, you’ll have these events, wineries and local wines to enjoy!

As your Livermore Valley real estate agent, I’d like to fill you in the most upcoming events at our local wineries, so you don’t miss a moment of the fun. Get out your calendars and start planning!

  • Tonight, from 6 to 9 p.m., head to McGrail Vineyards and Winery in Livermore, CA for Tapas, Tastings and Tunes! For $10, you can enjoy great food, local wine and classics from the 1950’s. Bring your dancing shoes, because Top Secret Dance Band will get you in the dancing mood!
  • Every fourth Friday, which happens to be today, Charles R Vineyards in Livermore, CA hosts Fourth Friday Uncorked. Tonight, from 5:30 to 8 p.m., enjoy wine, music and food pairings out on the patio. Michael Adkinson will be there to supply toe-tapping music everyone will enjoy.
  • Don’t want to drive out to a winery? On Saturday, from 2 to 5 p.m., you don’t have to! Stop by Gene’s Fine Foods in Pleasanton, CA to enjoy wine samples from Wood Family Vineyards in Livermore. That way, you can get your grocery shopping done while also sipping on local wines.
  • Saturday night, head to Retzlaff Vineyards for Comedy Uncorked. The show begins at 7:30 p.m. but doors open at 6 p.m.
    ickets cost $25 in advance or $30 at the door. This weekend, performers will include Jeff Applebaum, known for comedy drawn from his own life experiences, Kellen Erskine, featured on NBC’s America’s Got Talent, and Faith Alpher, actress and radio personality.
  • Saturday night, dress in all white and attend the first annual Summer Soiree at Wente Vineyards! This event will take place from 6 to 10 p.m. and will include dinner and dancing under the stars to the Pure Ecstasy Band. Communal seating and a buffet dinner are included with your tickets, which cost $69 for members and $79 for nonmembers.
  • Saturday or Sunday, head over to Cuda Ridge Wines for their 6th annual Vintage Tasting! This event takes place from noon to 4:3o p.m. each day and includes new wine releases, a car show, live music and barbecue! Special wine discounts will be available on wine purchases throughout the weekend. Live music will also take place each day. Cost is $10.
